2-DAY Introduction to Infrared Thermography - August 18th and 19th
This course is designed as an intense “get-up-and-running” session for new camera owners and customers trying to decide on the right camera to buy. Hands-on experiments and application related labs are included as part of the course content. There are no pre-requisites for this course. The following topics are covered.
- Basic thermodynamics (Heat Transfer)
- Basic infrared theory
- Proper camera operation, setup and maintenance
- Techniques for obtaining good qualitative and quantitative images (Temperature Measurement)
- Best practice for reporting results
- Application overview to include electrical, mechanical, building envelope, roofing and restoration
- Thermographer safety
Students will leave this course with the necessary tools and knowledge to capture and interpret quality infrared images with their cameras. Although the student is not required to bring an infrared camera to the class, it is strongly recommended for the hands-on portion of the course. Arrangements can be made ahead of the class for students who need a camera. Please consult with the training administrator at the time of registration to discuss class camera options. NACHI Members – this course meets the IR training requirements for the “Infrared Certified” professional designation. This course does not meet the educational requirements for certification according to the ASNT, SNT-TC-1A.
Tuition: $795 USD
Tuition includes the cost of the course materials, breakfast and lunch each day. It does not include any accommodations outside of the class such as transportation and hotels.
Add-on Class to 2-Day Introduction Class to Complete Level One
Level One Thermographer Certification
This 4 day, Level I Thermographer Certification course is designed for the new infrared camera user. It will acquaint the participant with numerous applications, PdM, condition monitoring and building envelope evaluation. Although an IR camera is not a requirement to attend the class, numerous hands on applications and demonstrations will be presented.
Students will leave this class with the ability to:
- Capture quality, focused thermograms
- Operate an infrared camera
- Interpret the most common thermal patterns over a wide range of applications
- Distinguish between emitted radiation and artifacts
- Read accurate and repeatable temperature measurement
- Avoid common thermographic pitfalls
The focus will be on hands-on, practical experimentation. Students will complete the Level One with the ability to “think behind” the surface being analyzed to understand the how and why of the anomaly.
All graduates will be certified to the standards set forth by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing in their document ASNT-SNT-TC-1A.
Tuition: $1,595 USD
Tuition fee includes all breakfasts and lunches, Training Manual, Thermal Cookbook, Certificate of Completion, and Thermographer Level One Certified ID Card.
